Still Visions: Paintings, Drawings, Photographs

Nudes in AI-Staged Spaces

These works are my most recent explorations, blending my digital paintings of nudes (see section below) with environments generated by AI. Through this fusion, I delve into the intersection of classical figure drawing and machine-created spaces. My hand-drawn figures, painted on an iPad, find themselves set within AI-generated interiors, inviting viewers to reconsider the digital nude—not as disposable content, but as a moment of presence. Here, AI is not the subject but the frame—a collaborator helping reimagine how we perceive gesture, intimacy, and context.

Creative Collages

Here are some of my unique blend of digital art, photography, and AI.

Queen in Gold

In my collages, I blend diverse artistic elements by printing my digital paintings onto multiple sheets of tissue paper, layering them with touches of gold leaf to create unique, textured pieces. I chose this particular painting for its soft edges, the gentle pose of the model, and the warm earth tones that infuse the piece with a rich, inviting quality.

Audrey

I spent a day painting Audrey at Sandra Wakeen's studio in Connecticut. Captivated by her intense gaze and the hint of fear in her expression, I first painted a full portrait of her head and bust. Later, when creating this collage, my photographer’s instinct took over—I dramatically cropped the digital painting to spotlight her face and eyes..

I painted Inky from a photograph, drawn to the striking yellow-gold tones I used for her face, which I echoed in the solid background. Using my signature technique of layering printed tissue paper, I built up rich textures to capture the natural volume and vitality of her thick hair.

Inky 1

Jazzmine, a seasoned model whose expressive presence blends drama with effortless humor, posed for me in the studio, sculpting light and shadow with her form. In this piece, I’ve fused photography and collage, layering gold leaf onto the original photograph to heighten tonal contrasts and lend a luminous, almost sculptural quality to her figure. The result is an image where radiance and darkness coalesce, capturing both the intimacy of the studio and the timeless allure of gilded surfaces.

Digital Sketches &Paintings

These sketches and paintings were created on an iPad Pro using Procreate, drawn from live models posing in sessions lasting anywhere from 2 to 30 minutes. Most pieces emerged from sessions at the Northampton Center for the Arts. I’m especially drawn to short poses, which challenge me to work quickly and focus intensely on capturing a single, expressive line of the body or the fleeting mood of the model.

  • Captured Horizons:
    Pioneer Valley & Paris

This gallery offers a small glimpse into photographs I’ve captured over the years, primarily in and around Northampton, Massachusetts—my current home—or in Paris, France, where I was born. For several years, I lived on the top floor of a building in Northampton, with a terrace that offered a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Pioneer Valley. I fell in love with the Seven Sisters mountain range unfurling along the southern horizon, the unusual silhouette of Northampton’s town hall crowned by its four distinctive turrets, and the iconic outlines of College Hall at Smith College and Saint Mary’s steeples. Most of these images were taken with my Sony mirrorless α6000 or α6600, documenting the places that continue to shape my life and artistic vision.

Studio Photography

I’ve always found studio photography to be both a challenging and deeply rewarding pursuit. Here, I share two examples: one featuring Jazzmine, a frequent presence throughout this website, and the other capturing a clay bust of Alphonse Mucha, sculpted by my talented friend, artist Sandra Wakeen, in her Connecticut studio. Photographing Sandra’s sculpture was an intense, immersive day spent meticulously arranging lighting, angles, and exposure to honor the piece’s form and texture. For these shoots, I relied on my Sony α6600 and used my iPad Pro as a live display tool to refine each frame.

Maria
Guarino's
Body
Tricks

In 2020, Maria Guarino invited me into a collaborative journey, posing for a series of digital paintings that became woven into a video telling the story of her life with epilepsy (view here). Interlaced with Maria’s soulful singing, interviews, and intimate reflections, the project blossomed into a tapestry of art and resilience. These paintings remain among my most treasured works, born from a collaboration that was as moving as it was meaningful. The resulting video and selected prints of my paintings were exhibited at the Anchor House of Artists in Northampton (now renamed New England Visionary Artists Museum) in February 2020. More information on Maria's project can be found here.

iBook

In 2020, I collaborated with poet Sara Eddy on a book that weaves together poetry and photography in a creative dialogue. Sometimes Sara’s poems were sparked by my photographs; other times, my camera sought to capture the essence of her words. The result is an iBook designed for the iPad, also available here as a downloadable PDF—a fusion of visual and literary art, where images and verses reflect and inspire one another.

Signage

Here we are, my friend Dan Belmont and I, proudly holding the sign I designed for him and his band, Shenanigans with Friends. I created the artwork using Procreate and Photoshop, blending vibrant neon effects for a playful, eye-catching look. It’s a real joy to rejoin Dan and his group performing at local venues around the Valley—and even more special to see this sign shining alongside their music.
